Privacy Policy
Effective August 24, 2026
The short version: Kioskope collects no personal data, contains no analytics or tracking, and has no accounts or servers. Scanning runs entirely on your device with Apple's VisionKit, and the camera feed never leaves the iPad.
Data we collect
None. Kioskope has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no backend. It sends no analytics, usage, or crash telemetry to us, and includes no advertising or third-party tracking SDKs. There is nothing for us to see, sell, or share.
Camera
Kioskope uses the camera for one purpose: to detect barcodes, QR codes, and printed text so they can be entered into the web page you configure. Frames are analyzed on device, in real time, by Apple's VisionKit. Kioskope does not record, save, or transmit the camera feed. Only the decoded value (the number or text of a scan) is delivered into your page, and only when you scan.
The websites you load
Kioskope is a browser. The website you point it at is operated by you or a third party and has its own privacy practices, which govern anything you type or scan into it. Kioskope adds no tracking of its own to those pages. You control which hosts load through the start URL and host allowlist, and an idle reset can clear the browsing session between users.
Settings stored on the device
Your configuration (start URL, admin PIN, scanning options, and similar preferences) is stored locally on the device using standard app storage (UserDefaults). This never leaves the iPad and is removed when the app is deleted. This is the sole reason declared in Kioskope's privacy manifest (required-reason API category CA92.1), and it is not used to track you.
Managed deployments (MDM)
When Kioskope is deployed through Mobile Device Management, your organization's administrator provides configuration via managed AppConfig. That relationship is between you and your organization; Kioskope does not transmit those settings to us.
Children
Kioskope is a business tool and is not directed at children. It is rated 17+ because it can load arbitrary websites you configure.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised version on this page.
